Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, on Wednesday attended the meeting of chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of BJP-rules states at the central office of the Bharatiya Janata Party in New Delhi. The Chief Minister’s Council meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting is part of the BJP’s good governance agenda, in which CMs share their best practices in governance and implementation of various welfare schemes.
After the meeting, Patton in a post on Twitter expressed his gratitude to PM Modi who is “leading us towards progressive change, reinforcing our mission of a vibrant Nagaland.”
Modi also wrote on Twitter: “Had a constructive meeting with BJP CMs and Deputy CMs today. We discussed ways for accelerating development and ensuring the welfare of our citizens. They shared their valuable insights during the meeting as well.”
Earlier in the day, Y Patton had attended the inauguration program of the new Parliament building. He later said that he was proud “to witness and partake in this historic milestone in our democratic journey” and congratulated the people of India on the new building which he described as “a symbol of our progressive democracy, rich culture, and vibrant future, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji.”
The triangular-shaped four-storey new Parliament building was inaugurated by Modi on Sunday. Constructed by Tata Projects Ltd, it will also have a grand Constitution Hall to showcase India’s democratic heritage, a lounge for MPs, a library, multiple committee rooms, dining areas and ample parking space.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had congratulated PM Modi and all who contributed to building the of the new Parliament building. “Parliament is the supreme legislative body of a democracy and I hope it will be the abode of transformational policies,” Rio stated on the micro blogging platform, adding hashtag ‘MyParliamentMyPride’.
