GMS Forest colony Kohima upgraded to High school

The Government Middle School, Forest Colony, Kohima was officially upgraded to a High School on October 11. According to a DIPR report, the upgradation was inaugurated by Kevileno Angami, Commissioner and Secretary, School Education,  at the school premise in Forest colony Kohima.

In her address as Special Guest, Angami thanked God for all the possibilities that everyone could come and work in symphony to make their aim a success. She also congratulated the stakeholders of the entire colonies and officials involved in upgrading the school from middle school to high school.

At present, the State government has 1932 Government schools with the aim to provide quality services and education, stated Angami, however due to various reasons this could not be achieved as expected till now. She stated that wherever there is community pro active participation, they tend to see the government schools not less than the private schools and therefore she urged the community to take ownership and urge the teachers to dedicate more and improve the quality of the educational system.

Highlighting the mandate of the Government of India, Angami noted that GoI has recognised the importance of community participation in the delivery of School Education and added that our Government of Nagaland have come up with the communitization of public services at 2002 where elementary school education was to be supported by the community and ownership was to be taken by the community. Further, monitoring and regulation of the government servant in the school and their salary disbursement was to be monitored by the community.

She mentioned that GHS Forest colony has gone beyond expected  as community contribution, both in cash and kind, has motivated and inspired the vicinities and expressed gratitude to all the members and the communities for making this school a high school to cater the needs of the people especially the downtrodden.
