The Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) had on Monday appealed to the business community in Kohima not to inflate the prices of commodities after the shutter down is lifted.
In the press release which was issued before the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry lifted the statewide indefinite closure of business on Monday, the Organisation acknowledged the “pertinent issues of multiple taxation by anti-social elements, self-styled syndicates, unscrupulous individuals” and appreciated the initiative of the Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
While appreciating the Nagaland Government order for stringent steps to curb illegal rampant taxation, extortion, kidnappings, KVYO fervently requested the government “to sincerely implement its policy”. Moreover, KVYO said that “indefinite closure of business establishment is not the solution” and urged all parties to seek potential areas of common ground through dialogue.
Further, the organisation stated that it would “not allow any association, organization or unions to hijack the day to day activities bringing the city to a halt in the form of bandhs, which affects the productivity of the city and for which the lower strata of the society usually bears the brunt, further the organization asks the KCCI to open all its business establishments for the welfare of each and every citizen of Kohima”.
