The District Level Programme for the 15th National Voters Day 2025, themed “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure,” was held at the DC Office Conference Hall, Kohima, on January 25, 2025. The event commenced with a video message from the Chief Election Commissioner of India, highlighting the celebration of 75 years of India’s democracy and the record-breaking participation of 64.6 crore voters in the 2024 elections, including a remarkable 65.78% turnout by women voters.
Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of voter participation in strengthening democracy. Voting is not just a right but also a responsibility, a way to shape the future of our country and build a better society. He expressed concern over urban and youth voter apathy and urged citizens to actively engage in elections.
District SVEEP Icon, Vihuzo Kense inspired the audience with a story of a 90-year-old woman’s unwavering commitment to voting, calling on everyone, especially the youths, to honor their responsibility as voters.
Best BLO award winner, Lhingboi Singson, shared her journey of overcoming challenges to transform her polling station into an efficient electoral hub.
The program honored outstanding Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for their exceptional performance in Electoral Roll preparation during the Special Summary Revision and Continuous Updation. The best BLOs recognized were Zakiebilie Nakhro (8 Western Angami AC) – Polling Station 25, Dzudza. Lhingboi Singson (9 Kohima Town AC) – Polling Station 20, P.R. Hill Upper. Avilie Sorhie (10 Northern Angami I AC) – Polling Station 25, Pezielietsie. Khrieneituo Metha (11 Northern Angami II AC) – Polling Station 13, Chiechama Phesazou. Zekhovinuo Yietsu (14 Southern Angami I AC) – Polling Station 13, Mitelephe. Ketholel Koso (15 Southern Angami II AC) – Polling Station 1, Viswema Z. Khel.
First-time voters were also felicitated during the event, and attendees took a voter’s pledge, led by ADC & ERO Kohima, Rhosietho Ngouri. EAC Kezocha, Limakumla Pongener, who chaired the event, commended all BLOs and encouraged them to continue dedication in the coming years.
Assistant Election Officer, Chisho K Swu concluded the event with a vote of thanks, and the program closed with the National Anthem.
