In a renewed effort to move the stalled Indo-Naga political dialogue toward an early and inclusive solution, the Government of India’s Interlocutor, AK Mishra convened a joint meeting of the two NNPG factions at the Chümoukedima Police Complex on Thursday.
The meeting brought together representatives of the Working Committee of NNPGs, led by N Kitovi Zhimomi, and the faction led by Neokpao Konyak and Alezo Venuh, in what is seen as a significant move towards consolidating positions and fostering unity among Naga political groups.
Reaffirming the collective resolve of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), Convenor of the Working Committee of NNPGs, N Kitovi Zhimomi, Convenor on Thursday emphasized the coalition’s unwavering commitment to achieving an early, inclusive, and honorable political solution to the Naga issue.
“We acknowledge our past. We acknowledge our legacy. But we have also resolved that we will not allow our past legacy to hold us back from moving forward,” said Kitovi said while talking to media persons after the meeting.
“Together, we will march ahead… We want an early solution,” he reiterated. He maintained that all groups should come for a solution.
When asked about the possibility of a joint NNPG meeting or further unification, Kitovi said, they are the right person to respond.

Speaking after the meeting, Co-Convenor of NNPG, Isak Sumi described the engagement as part of a “consolidation process” aimed at bringing together all Naga political groups and stakeholders to work toward a common solution.
“The ultimate objective is that all the groups come together, work out a consensus, and move forward for a solution together,” he said.
When asked whether Working Committee and the NNPGs should come together, Isak said that it is not only exclusive for NNPGs, but it is meant for all Naga political groups. “All the stakeholders should come together, work out a common execution plan. That’s it,” he said.
Replying to a query, he said, “This is not about creating a new platform or altering the status quo. Every organization is sitting at one table as a separate entity with the common goal of resolving the Naga issue,” he added.
While no fixed date has been set for the next round of talks, Sumi mentioned that the parties are hopeful of expediting the process.
