Blood Bank inaugurated at Hezükhu Memorial Hospital Zunheboto

Zunheboto: The Hans Foundation and the district administration provided the support to purchase the equipment for the blood bank

The Blood Bank at Hezükhu Memorial Hospital was inaugurated today by G Kaito Aye, Minister Agriculture and Cooperation.

Aye, speaking at the inaugural programme, said he was happy to be a part of the programme and acknowledged the pain and trouble that the doctors and medical fraternity have gone through to serve people.

He also thanked The Hans Foundation for generously contributing towards the purchase of equipment for the blood bank.

Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, said it was a fortunate thing to have inaugurated the blood bank. He also highlighted the difficulty that people have faced due to the lack of a blood bank in the district.

Plans for the setup of a library and new medical facilities needed in the hospital upon the completion of the new building were also shared during the programme.

Brig S S Katariya from The Hans Foundation, in his brief speech, shared about the work that the HANS foundation has been doing, such as adopting one Primary Health Centre and one Community Health Centre in Mon district and building bridges in rural areas through their projects.

Hokishe Chophy, DPO DAPCU, in his keynote address, mentioned that the district had been functioning without a blood bank for many decades and whenever patients required blood, Tavinto Chishi, the president of Green Club, would contact donors.

Chophy added that through the support of The Hans Foundation and the district administration, the equipment was bought and the lives of many will be saved hereafter.

He also mentioned that Boto Sema, Drug Inspector, was instrumental in getting the licence for the blood storage centre.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Dr Shikato, SMO DH Zunheboto.

The invocation and dedicatory prayer were pronounced by Rev Dr Hutton, pastor of SBCZ.

The programme was attended by the president of the Sumi Hoho and colleagues, present SKH and colleagues, and members of STH, ZRSU, GBs, HODs from different departments.
