Deputy Commissioner Kohima B Henok Buchem has issued an order for removal of unused and loosely hanging overhead cables and pipes stating that they detract from the city’s aesthetic appeal, while posing electrical, fire and safety hazards and increase risks.
The DC cited that they pose a threat during natural disasters and obstruct emergency operations, impede the movement of heavy vehicles, and endanger pedestrians and public safety in case of breakage or fall.
