Former president of the Angami Public Organisation (APO) Kekhriengulie Linyü passed away on January 3 following a prolonged illness. He was a retired government official, and had served as the president of APO during 2008-2011.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed sadness over Linyü’s demise. In a condolence message, Rio stated that he had known Linyü personally and recalled that he was a calm and composed gentleman who was known for his honesty and selfless nature.
Before devoting himself fully to social service, he served the government of Nagaland in various capacities. After his retirement as Additional Director and HoD, Department Land Records & Survey, he served as the president of APO.
“During his tenure, he took up several important issues concerning the Naga people and stood firmly for justice and truth. His commitment to the welfare of society was evident, and he always extended help to those in need. His passing is a great loss, especially to the Angami community, and the void left behind will be difficult to fill. While he will be deeply missed, we thank God for the meaningful life he lived and pray that his noble legacy continues to inspire us,” Rio stated.
The chief minister conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and offered prayers that the Almighty God would grant them strength, comfort, and courage to bear the irreparable loss.

APO: The Angami Public Organisation (APO) expressed deep sorrow over the demise of its former leader Kekhriengulie Linyü.
“The passing of our former president marks the end of a significant chapter in our collective journey. He was a leader who carried the weight of responsibility with grace, wisdom, and humility,” the organisation stated in a condolence message.
It recalled that during his tenure as president of the organisation, Linyü had played a vital role in strengthening unity, upholding traditions, and guiding the community through times of challenge and change.
“His leadership was inclusive and his commitment to justice and harmony is worth mentioning. What set him apart was his ability to listen to elders, to youth, and to differing voices-always seeking consensus. His life reminds us that true leadership lies in service, and moral courage,” the APO stated.
KUD: The Kudawhi Union Dimapur (KUD) expressed sorrow on the demise of Kekhriengulie Linyü, former APO president and also the former president of KUD, who passed away on the morning of January 3.
Remembering late Linyii as a “dedicated, upright, and principled bureaucrat” who served the government and the people with integrity and distinction, the KUD stated that his commitment to ethical administration, discipline, and selfless service had earned him deep respect across communities.
The union acknowledged his invaluable contributions to KUD, the Angami community, and the state of Nagaland. It further extended sincere condolences to the bereaved family.
P Paiwang Konyak: Minister for Health and Family Welfare P Paiwang Konyak has also expressed sadness in learning of the passing of Kekhriengulie Linyü of L Khel, Kohima Village, former APO President and HOD department of Land Records & Survey.
The minister, in a condolence message, termed Linyü’s demise a great loss not only to his family but to all who knew him. “He will be remembered for his warmth, humility, and the quiet strength with which he touched the lives of many,” Konyak stated.
While conveying his condolences to the bereaved family, he also prayed that God grant them comfort, courage, and peace. “May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire those he left behind,” the minister added.
