The Longjang Helipad (N0.NST/HIL/412/2022-23/728) constructed by the 3 Buba Medemsanger Longjang Lanu Tata Zünga (Peer/Age group) was inaugurated by the minister of Rural Development, Metsübo Jamir on 23 November at Longjang village, Mokokchung.
In the inaugural programme, the minister declared that the Longjang Helipad is the first in Nagaland to be located in a village. Jamir also appreciated the 3 Buba Medemsanger Longjang Lanu Tata Zünga for displaying such an initiative to the rest of the state by constructing the helipad solely through contributions from members of the Zünga.
He asserted that the sole helipad in the district has been beneficial for the neighbouring districts like Wokha, Longleng, Tuensang and Zunheboto and the newly constructed Longjang Helipad will further contribute to this.

Jamir also stated that Longjang village has been blessed with abundant agricultural produce and the village has also successfully implemented various governmental projects. This has been a huge boost for the district and the state, he added.
He also said the RD Department has been reaching out to villages in the state for the upliftment of the local economy. In this regard, he observed that Longjang is a progressive village and appreciated the efforts and contribution of the village for the welfare of the people.
Stating that his family shares a close relationship with Longjang, he encouraged the villagers present to come together as a family and uphold cultural bonds. He said political relationships are temporary but strengthening each other through cultural bond was permanent.
Jamir also unveiled the inauguration stone during the programme.
In his welcome address, T Temjen Jamir stated that it is a good tradition of Longjang village for the Lanu Menden Tarensen to be responsible for looking after the assigned duties directed by the Putu Menden (Village Council) for a period of three years.
He informed that the Lanupokyim Zünga of the 3 Buba Medemsanger Longjang Tata Zünga, having entered this crucial stage of being responsible, had resolved to initiate a good deed for the welfare of the village by constructing the Helipad.
The convener further informed that the Helipad has been successfully completed with generous contribution from all its members and expressed hope that this project would benefit the Longjang villagers and the nearby areas.
The program was chaired by Lanukaba Longkumer while Rev Ngangnen Longkumer, pastor of Wokha Town Ao Baptist Church, pronounced the invocation. A special song was presented by Watsü Telen Longjang and a short speech was delivered by the Longjang Village Council.
