The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has issued a 20-day ultimatum to the Nagaland government demanding immediate action to safeguard and commence construction of the proposed 100-bedded girls’ hostel at Kohima Science College.
In a representation, signed by ANCSU president, Kivika Yeptho and general secretary, Sotilo Tep and addressed to Nagaland Chief Secretary, the Union expressed “grave concern and strong dissatisfaction” over the prolonged delay in execution of the project despite approval of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding amounting to Rs 3,52,68,650.
The ANCSU stated that the first installment of Rs 1,05,80,595 had already been released on April 12, 2023, but alleged that the project has remained completely stagnant for an extended period.

The union further expressed alarm over reports that the funding agency had initiated proceedings for refund of the sanctioned amount due to failure of the concerned authorities to commence and implement the project within the stipulated timeframe.
In this regard, the Union served a strict ultimatum of 20 days to immediately safeguard the sanctioned CSR amount and commence the construction work of the 100-bedded girls’ hostel at Kohima Science College (Autonomous), Jotsoma within the approved sanctioned amount.
The ANCSU unequivocally warned that failure to act in action within the stipulated 20 days would compel the Union and the student community to initiate any befitting democratic protest in the larger interest of the higher education and student welfare in the State.
