The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU), along with its affiliated colleges across the state, successfully observed a state-wide ‘BLACK-FRIDAY’ on June 19 as the first phase of its democratic agitation against the state Government continued failure to address the long-pending issue concerning the construction of the 100-bedded Girls’ Hostel at Kohima Science College Autonomous, Jotsoma.
The agitation was necessitated following the expiry of the ultimatum served by ANCSU to the concerned authorities. Despite repeated representations, appeals, and ample time provided to the government for necessary action, no satisfactory response or visible progress has been witnessed on the matters. Such continued indifference towards a critical educational infrastructure project, which directly impacts the welfare, safety, and academic aspirants of hundreds of female students, is deeply disappointing and unacceptable.

ANCSU expressed its sincere appreciation to all its affiliated and associate units for their unwavering solidarity and active participation in making the state-wide Black Friday a success.
The Union reiterated that the demands for the immediate construction and completion of the 100-bedded Girls’ hostel at Kohima Science College Autonomous, Jotsoma is non- negotiable and remains a matter of urgent priority. The government’s prolonged inaction has compelled the students’ community to initiate democratic forms of protest, and the responsibility for any escalation of the agitation shall reset solely upon the concerned authorities.
ANCSU further cautioned the state government and concerned department to take immediate and concrete measures to address the issue without further delay. Subsequently, the Union appealed to all its affiliated units to remain prepared for the next phase of agitation.
ANCSU will launch a massive State-wide protest rally in the days ahead, it said.
