Naga People’s Front:

The Naga People’s Front (NPF) today observed World Environment Day 2026 with extensive tree plantation activities across Nagaland, reaffirming the party’s commitment to environmental conservation.
In line with the party’s annual calendar, June has been earmarked as “Plantation and Environmental related activities Month.” Following this directive, NPF divisions in all districts mobilized party workers to plant saplings in public spaces, roadsides, and community land. The plantation drive was also carried out by the Central Youth Wing, Central Women Wing, and Minority Wing of the party, with active participation from their respective state and district-level units.
As per the initiative of the party leadership, many NPF divisions conducted the drive-in collaboration with district administration officials, forest department personnel, and village councils. This joint effort aimed to ensure proper site selection and long-term care of the saplings.
“Environment protection is not just a one-day event for us. June as Plantation Month reflects NPF’s long-term vision of a green Nagaland and every citizen should be encouraged to plant trees for our safe environment,” said a senior party leader, Benjamin Lorin while participating in a plantation drive at Kohima. Saplings of indigenous and fruit-bearing trees were planted to ensure both ecological and community benefits.
The division leaders reported enthusiastic participation from village units. World Environment Day is observed globally on June 5 to encourage worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the environment.
The NPF said the plantation drive should be a collective effort of every individual, urging every citizen to nurture the saplings and adopt eco-friendly practices in daily life.
