Applications invited for ‘Indus Towers Scholarship Program’ for Students with Disabilities in NE for 2024-25

Kohima: Scholarship program intents to encourage students to pursue academic, professional, vocational, and skill-building education

The Indus Towers Scholarship Program for the session 2024-25 session is now open for applications from students with disabilities across North East India, Indus Towers Ltd., in partnership with Shishu Sarothi (Center for Rehabilitation and Training for Multiple Disability), has announced.

The Scholarship was launched in 2016 under Indus Towers’s CSR initiative “Saksham,” to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the educational and professional mainstream. It has been instrumental in helping more than 800 students with disabilities from NE India to overcome financial barriers and advance in their academic journeys, by encouraging them to pursue academic, professional, vocational, and skill-building education (including coaching for employment-oriented competitive examinations) at any recognized or affiliated educational institution across the country.

The 2024-25 Scholarship Program will provide financial support to 70 students from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram to pursue certificate and diploma courses in Administrative, Accounting & Office Skills, Beauty & Cosmetology, Hospitality and Tourism, Tailoring & Weaving, Electrical & Mechanical, Agriculture & Farming, Computer & Digital Skills, Music & Fine Arts, Cooking & Baking, Retail & Sales, Sports, etc. Additionally, career counseling sessions and awareness programs on Rights for Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 will be conducted for scholars to motivate and inspire them in their educational pursuits and journey toward economic empowerment.

The Indus Towers Scholarship Program 2024-25 is focusing on equipping and empowering youth with disabilities from NE India to achieve economic independence, by providing scholarships for relevant, practical, market-oriented, and in-demand vocational and skill training that facilitates their access to sustainable livelihoods jobs and self-employment opportunities.
