Officials from the Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) inspected the ongoing construction of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex in Niuland on May 9. The team was joined by the Deputy Commissioner Niuland, administrative officers, engineers, and the contractor.

During the visit, Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE) Er. Sungtiba Amer, who led the inspection team, observed that work was progressing slowly. He stated that the construction has been delayed due to site allotment issues and the shifting of high-tension (HT) power lines.

Despite these challenges, Er. Amer noted that sufficient funds have already been allocated under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.

“The project has the financial backing it needs—therefore, we expect the contractor to accelerate the pace of construction without further delay,” he said while underlining the urgency of progress on the long-awaited complex.

Meanwhile, the inspection team also visited the flat-type administrative residential building, which is currently nearing completion.

The building is intended to house administrative officers posted in the district. Er. Amer expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of the work and urged the contractor to complete the project within the next three months.

He mentioned that the funding for this project has been fully booked under State Earmarked. It may be noted that these projects fall under the General Administration Department’s broader infrastructure development plan for district-level governance in Nagaland.
