Consequent to the expiry of its seven-day ultimatum to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to undertake repair and maintenance work on Kohima-Jessami Road, the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) on Friday stated that it was left with “no viable option” but to democratically organize a peaceful protest from May 10, 9:00 AM onwards.
“This protest is being initiated to express our deep dismay and dissatisfaction with the NHIDCL and the EPC contractor, M/s Ratna Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd., over their persistent non-compliance and inaction concerning the pressing issues previously raised by the Union,” the CSU said in a press release.

The union appealed to the general public and all concerned stakeholders to extend their support in any way or form, even if they are unable to be physically present. “The collective voice and solidarity of the people remain our greatest strength in holding those in authority accountable,” the release added.
