Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has wished shot putter Hokato Hotozhe Sema as he left for France where he will be representing India at the Paralympic Games 2024.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said, “I extend my best wishes to Mr. Hokato Sema. He will be representing India in Shot Put at the @Paris2024 Paralympic Games, which begins on August 28. His determination and perseverance are remarkably inspiring. May he continue to bring laurels to the State and the Nation.”

Adviser to the Nagaland CM, Chairman of Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) and Associate Vice President of Athletics Federation of India, Abu Metha too extended his best wishes to the athlete.

In a post on X, Metha stated: “The Asian Games Medalist follows in the footsteps of Dr. Talimeren Ao and Ms. Chekrovolu Swuro, former Olympians from Nagaland. Go for Gold Hotozhe; the prayers and support of all of us are with you as you step into the greatest arena of human endeavour and excellence. Know that you are already a winner and a champion. Keep shining and keep making our people proud.”

Meanwhile, the Paralympic Committee of India said that Hokato Hotozhe Sema is “A warrior on and off the field!”

From serving the nation as a Havildar to inspiring millions with his resilience after losing a leg at the LOC, Sema’s journey is one of true determination and courage, it added.

The Paris Paralympic Games 2024 will be held from 28 August to 8 September 2024. PCI informed that the para athletes will be in action from 30th August.
