The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland and Nagaland NET Qualified Forum will continue its protest on April 24. It appealed to all concerned organisations and the general public to join in the fight against corruption in the Department of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland.

“Despite the three-day peaceful protest, the concerned authorities have not only ignored our demands but have come up with an insensitive decision of forming a committee to look into the matter of the 147 absorbed Assistant Professors and Librarians posts. The CTAN and NNQF vehemently rejects the decision made by the Cabinet on 21 April 2025,” stated the two groups in a press release issued today.

“The protest continues and therefore the CTAN and NNQF appeal to all organisations and right-thinking citizens to join us once again in the protest on Thursday, 24th April, 2025. We will gather in front of the Secretariat, Kohima, Nagaland, at exactly 9:00 am and march to the entrance of the Directorate of Higher Education, where the peaceful gathering will continue. All organisations/groups are requested to assign a representative for a solidarity speech,” it appealed.

According to the CTAN and NNQF, the charter of demands of the protest are:

  1. Immediate revocation of the order No. THE/HE/13-3/2020 (Pt-1) 104 dated 17th December 2024, which allows for the absorption of 147 Assistant Professors and Librarians in Government Colleges across the State.
  2. Immediate requisition of all Assistant Professor/Librarian posts filled on contract after June 6, 2016 to NPSC for the Common Educational Services Examination, wherein, the June 6, 2016 office memorandum outrightly imposes a ban on contractual appointees.
  3. Immediately dissolve the Committee formed by the Cabinet on 21 April 2025 to look into the matter of the 147 absorbed Assistant Professor and Librarian posts.

“It is now or never. Show us your solidarity. Join us,” appealed the two groups.

In an ultimatum to the Chief Secretary, the CTAN and NNQF re-appealed for revocation of the December 17, 2024 order. It expressed its discontentment with the April 21 Cabinet decision of setting up a committee to look into the matter and its panel in two months.

“Given the gravity of the demand, we stand firm on our decision to continue the peaceful agitation from 24th April 2025, until the said order is revoked,” it stated.
