The Red Alert issued for Tripura and Mizoram and the Yellow Alert for most parts of the Northeast by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on 17th November in view of Cyclone Midhili have now been eased. The cyclone crossed Bangladesh coast near Khepupara on Friday evening and has since then weekend into a Low Pressure Area over North Tripura and neighbourhood at 8:30 am on Saturday, IMD informed.
The Department said that heavy to very heavy rainfall observed at isolated places over Mizoram, Tripura and heavy rainfall at isolated places over Assam and Tamil Nadu. South Tripura’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra received 15cm rainfall between 8:30 am on Friday and 8:30 on Saturday.

IMD issues rainfall warnings during next 5 days
- Light to moderate rainfall at some places is likely over Mizoram & Tripura on 18th November.
- Light to moderate rainfall at some places with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely to continue over Tamil Nadu and Kerala during 18th-20th November; Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 21st and over Tamil Nadu on 22nd November, 2023. Isolated thunderstorm activity likely to occur over the above region during 18th – 22nd November 2023.
- Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands today.
Dense Fog Warning:
Dense Fog very likely in isolated pockets of east and south Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during 18th–19th November 2023, IMD stated.
