GHS Chesezü sports meet underway

The two-day Games and Sports meet of Government High School (GHS) Chesezü commenced with great enthusiasm, with Assistant Headmaster (AHM) of GHS Chesezü, Vekhole Rhakho, declaring the meet open at the local ground in Chesezü village under Phek district.

A press release from the school stated that Rhakho, in his speech during the inaugural event, emphasized the importance of agility, stamina, and strength in the life of a sportsperson. He stressed the significance of consistency and determination, asserting that there are no shortcuts to success.

He also highlighted the importance of staying fit and healthy, especially for students, adding that education encompasses overall development beyond the four walls of learning. Additionally, he underscored the need to balance studies and sports in order to excel in life.

Rhakho further encouraged students to develop a sense of healthy competition in academics, just as they do in sports.

As part of promoting inclusivity and sportsmanship, the school conducted a special 20-meter race for a differently-abled student, Besuvolü, the lone participant, who showcased remarkable determination and spirit. In appreciation of her resilience, the school honored her with a special prize, which was presented by Vekhole Rhakho, AHM of GHS Chesezü.

The first day of the event witnessed intense competition across various categories. In wrestling, Khruto won in the under 40 kg category, Uzhove in the 40-50 kg category, Anuzuzo in the 51-60 kg category, and Ruveto in the below 70 kg category. Thujoseyi secured the top spot in the feet jump event. In women’s arm wrestling, Nukuvolü won in the 30-40 kg category, Apiyo in the 41-50 kg category, and Zaletalu in the under 70 kg category.

The release further stated that the finals for the track and field events, along with other games, are scheduled for March 22.
