Hospital Disaster Preparedness and Capacity Building Training commences

The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Home Department in collaboration with the Department of Health & Family Welfare and Geo Hazards Society, India organized a three-day Hospital Disaster Preparedness & Capacity Building Program on March 19 at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima, informed DIPR.

The main objective of the training is for doctors and medical practitioners to be prepared for any hazards that Nagaland is vulnerable to. The training also aims to bring out Hospital Disaster Management Plans for all District Hospitals, CHCs and PHCs. Various topics to be covered during the training include earthquake preparedness in Health Facilities, falling hazards and fire hazards risk identification and mitigation, and Formation of Hospital Disaster Management Committee and Incident Response System etc.

During the inaugural program Jt. CEO, NSDMA, Johnny Ruangmei presented a brief overview of the training which was followed by a speech from Managing Director NHAK, H&FW, Dr. Sendimeren Aonok. A brief speech was also given by Principal Director, H&FW, Dr. Ritu Thur and a vote of thanks was proposed by Assistant Manager (Training & Education), NSDMA, Khrolou Koza Lohe. The resource persons for the program were Dr. Hari Kumar, Pranav, Shivangi and Tiakala Difusa. The program was chaired by Deputy Director & State Nodal Officer, DM Cell DoH&FW, Dr. Nyan Kikon.
