Porbandar: Reasons leading to incident being investigated by a Board of Inquiry

An Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH MK-III) of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) met crashed at Porbandar Airport Runway in Gujarat on 5 January 2025 while on a routine training sortie. The ICG informed in a press release that two pilots and one aircrew diver were in the helicopter when the incident occurred around 12:15 pm.

“Immediately after the incident, the crew were recovered and shifted to Government Hospital, Porbandar, where they were declared brought dead,” the ICG stated. It also said that a Board of Inquiry was investigating the reasons leading to the incident.

The Indian Coast Guard have also informed that the mortal remains of the crew viz. Commandant (JG) Saurabh, Deputy Commandant SK Yadav and Manoj Pradhan Navik will be cremated as per service traditions and honour.
