The Kiphire District GBs’ Association has strongly opposed the short-term maintenance contract declared for NH-202, calling for an immediate review of the decision and greater attention to the district’s long-pending road connectivity needs.

In a press release, the Association said decisions concerning public infrastructure must be guided by fairness, transparency and equal consideration of the interests of all affected districts.

The Association expressed concern that while several districts in Nagaland have benefited from two-lane and four-lane road infrastructure for years, Kiphire continues to face neglect in matters of basic road connectivity.

Stating that the longstanding and urgent developmental needs of the district must not be overlooked, the Association said every citizen is entitled to equal development, safe connectivity and just treatment under the Constitution and the rule of law.

The Association, therefore, urged the competent authority to review the decision and to take immediate and appropriate steps to address the genuine concerns of Kiphire District in a lawful, equitable, and responsible manner.
