On 6th September 2023, the Kohima District Task Force for Immunization, encompassing both Rural and Urban areas, organized an Inter-Departmental convergence meeting to address the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI), MR Elimination Drive, and Routine Immunization (RI). The meeting took place at the DC Conference Hall Kohima, a DIPR report said.
During the gathering, Dr. Shiela, Senior Medical Officer (SMO) from WHO, presented updates on the coverage data analysis of Routine Immunization (RI) spanning from April to August 2023. She announced that the next RI session is scheduled to commence on 11th September 2023. Dr. Shiela highlighted various challenges such as dropouts, leftouts, concerns about Adverse Effects Following Immunization (AEFI), and refusals stemming from insufficient dissemination of information about RI and its significance. She emphasized the role of Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) in informing individuals about the administered vaccine, the diseases it prevents, the due list for the next immunization, and maintaining accurate records.
Dr. Khrievilhou Nakhro, District Program Officer (DPO) for Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) and Universal Immunization Program (UIP), reported on the ongoing IMI 5.0 and MR Elimination Campaign. The first round of these initiatives covered 15 areas in 22 wards within Kohima District, both urban and rural. Dr. Nakhro explained that IMI 5.0, designed for reaching dropouts and leftouts, will enter its second round in the second week of September 2023 to ensure comprehensive coverage. He urged all stakeholders to disseminate accurate information about IMI for its successful implementation.
Imli Longkumer, representing the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), highlighted the use of the U-WIN app and its application in routine immunization.
During the meeting, under the theme “MOMENTUM Routine Immunization, Transformation & Equity,” IRSN/JSI recognized four Vaccinators and Community Mobilizers for their commendable contributions by awarding certificates and gift hampers.
The awardees were Razouvonu (Asha, Kezoma), Kikruseü (Asha, Thizama), Podolu (Lady Health Visitor, Viswema), and Kilangtula (ANM, Naga Bazaar Sub-Centre).
In his closing remarks, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Rhosietho Nguori, NCS, hailed Ashas, ANMs, and Anganwadi Workers as true warriors. He congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to continue their dedicated service. Nguori pledged continued cooperation and urged all line departments to coordinate and provide support whenever needed for the success of the immunization campaign.
