The Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) Women Department celebrated its silver jubilee at Koinonia Prayer Centre, Tsiesema Basa, under the theme, “… Rejoice, highly favoured one, the Lord is with you…” (Luke 1:28).

A press release from the Koinonia Media Ministry informed that Rev. Dr. Zotuo Kiewhuo, Founder and Senior Pastor of Koinonia Baptist Church and Principal of Kohima Bible College, was the speaker at the event. During the celebration, Rev. Dr. Kiewhuo, in his message, said a godly woman is more precious than a ruby. He also highlighted the stories of godly women in the Bible, such as Hannah, Ruth, Esther, Rahab, and many others, whose decisions changed the course of history and often serve as a source of inspiration and challenge for women.

He said these women overcame their trials and persevered in faith, adding that they overturned curses into blessings.

The speaker stated that, according to the Bible, women were the strongest and boldest during the time of Jesus. For instance, Mary Magdalene, who Jesus had cleansed of seven demons, followed Jesus to the crucifixion site. She also arrived at Jesus’ tomb early in the morning when men were hiding in fear and insecurity. She was the first person to see the resurrected Christ and to proclaim the good news.

Rev. Kiewhuo said Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is the epitome of forgiveness. He asserted that Mary, seeing her dear son cruelly slain and betrayed by religious leaders she knew well, had forgiven all, though it tore her heart in agony. He also added that Mary, the sister of Martha, chose to be at Jesus’ feet rather than doing daily chores because she knew God’s Word was her priority.

He stated that the Bible is full of stories of courageous women who overcame great obstacles to do God’s will, adding that their lives are testaments to the power of faith and perseverance.

In this regard, he called upon the women present to emulate the women of the Bible while emphasizing the need for more women to stand strong in the Lord and continue working zealously for Him through Christian ways of prayer, generous giving, and outreach ministry.

Furthermore, Rev. Kiewhuo dwelt on the uniqueness of each woman in the sight of God, stating that they are all highly favoured and urging them to rejoice.

Greetings were delivered by Keneisonuo Sonuo Üsou, the First Chairperson of the Women Department. Scripture was read out by Neilaviü Suokhrie, and the programme was led by Medotsilieu Kiewhuo, Pastor and Chairperson of the Women Department.

During the service, the Koinonia Theme Song was presented by the combined choir, while special songs were performed by Azhanuo Kenguruse, the Deborah Group, the Youth & Junior CYE Choir, and the Jubilee Choir. The Jubilee Souvenir Magazine was released by Rev. Dr. Zotuo Kiewhuo.

Earlier in the day, a monolith commemorating the jubilee was dedicated and unveiled at the Koinonia Baptist School Compound in Kohima.

A Jubilee Musical Night will be organized at Old NST Kohima Town on December 19 at 4 PM and subsequently on December 20 at 4 PM at High School Junction, Kohima.
