Leaders of ten opposition parties in Manipur called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Saturday to request her to arrange a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all political parties in Manipur “to chart out a plan for resolving the present conflict in the best
interest of all people of Manipur.”
During the meeting the Governor assured the delegates that “she would act fast by pursuing the HPM & Central leaders for initiation of peace talks. The team praised the Governor for her active role & tireless efforts during the 6 months of the ongoing conflict,” Raj Bhavan Manipur informed in a post on X.
The team of ten opposition parties also submitted a memorandum that accused the Peace Committee constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs has not done any visible work to restore peace and harmony in Manipur which is in conflict for over six months.

Considering the complexities of the conflict in the state, a viable solution to the conflict can only be brought by the Union Government. We consider that the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India is the only hope for bringing peace in the state,” it stated. The leaders therefore appealed the Governor to arrange a meeting of all political parties in Manipur with the Prime Minister to find a solution to the conflict under his leadership and guidance.
The team was led by former chief minister O Ibobi Singh of Indian National Congress. The others who attended the meeting included K. Meghachandra, President, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee; Gaikhangam, CWC Member, AICC, Dr Nimaichand Luwang, Spokesperson, JD(U); Dr Kh Loken Singh, Vice President, JD(U); L. Sotinkumar Singh, Ex-Secretary, CPI; Ksh Santa Singh, Secretary, CPI(M); O Nabakishore Singh, Vice-President, JD(U); S. Iboyaima Singh, President, NCP; T. Devananda Singh, President, SS(UBT); Th. Inaocha Singh, Convenor, AITC; Kh Gyaneswar Singh, Secretary, NCP; Th. Bishwanath, Activity Coordinator, AAP; K. Manoranjan Singh, Secretary, RSP.
The opposition political parties had submitted a memorandum to the Governor earlier on 13th October 2023 where they stated that it was high time for Central and state authorities to engage in peace process to bring normalcy in the state and urged Governor Uikey to save democracy in the state.
