The Miqlat Ministry was conferred the prestigious A. Kevichusa Citizenship Award 2024 today at the award ceremony organised by the Kevichusa Foundation held on December 20 at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur.
Miqlat Ministry is a faith based ministry under the umbrella of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council Women’s Department, advocating against human trafficking and prostitution, safeguarding and uplifting women, and offers counseling, prayers, vocational trainings, retreats, seminars, Bible studies, sports etc.
Vikrino Kuotsu and Ojungsangla Longkumer were also presented the Chalie Kevichusa Essay Awards 2024. The theme of this year’s Chalie Kevichusa Essay competition was “Potentials of Nagaland.”
Chief Guest Kovi Meyase in his speech highlighted that the A.Kevichiisa citizen award was instituted in 2017 to recognise and promote the ideal of citizenship and such indigenous citizens from the state with outstanding contributions to the society.
“This award is symbolic of that unwavering support of our eponymous benefactor who despite many personal tragedies and phases of desolation and loneliness in his life hung on to his creed by famously saying When we have right on our side and that is more than all the world,” remarked Meyase.
Acknowledging the Miqlat Ministry for their contributions and services to the people and society, Meyase also expressed that the recipient of this award belongs to the “envious category of those who have not only been recognized by the Foundation for their service to our people but also amongst those very few who are worthy of being called that ideal citizen of our society – that light at the end of the tunnel”.
He thanked the Kevichusa foundation for the award and for holding onto that tradition and continuing to champion the cause of good citizenry. “For being a beacon of hope, and helping provide moral compass to those treading that narrow path, even amidst all that is happening in the society today,” added Meyase. He later gave out the A. Kevichusa Award 2024 to Miqlat ministry. The recipients received a medallion, a certificate and Rs. 4 lakh.

About Miqlat ministry:
Miqlat Ministry is a redeeming, social, and faith-based ministry, easily the most challenging and “outside-the-comfort zone” ministry under the umbrella of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council Women’s Department. It means entering a dark, dangerous world where you are an outsider, where the level of commitment required is off the charts.
Miqlat Ministry is an outcome of a celebration of the Women in the 21st Century held in the year 2001 where the Naga Baptist Women gathered and felt the pressing need to address and tackle social evils regarding women. This led to the birthing of Miqlat Ministry on August 30, 2004
The purpose of the A. Kevichusa Citizenship Award is to celebrate and promote the ideal of citizenship. The Award annually recognises an indigenous individual or group of Nagaland that has consistently championed, demonstrated, and embodied the ideal of citizenship, and unwaveringly sought the common good of the people of Nagaland or collective sections and constituencies.
