Mokokchung DPDB starts free coaching institute “Shisalen Riju” with LADP common pool

Mokokchung: Ultimate goal of establishing coaching centre is to see students succeed in NSSB and NPSC examinations: Advisor Ozukum

Shisalen Riju, a coaching institute initiated by Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) to provide free coaching classes with special focus on NPSC and NSSB exams, was officially inaugurated on 19th February 2024 at Tzusapang, Mokokchung by Metsubo Jamir, Honourable Minister, Rural Development and SIRD, Government of Nagaland as the Special Guest.

Shisalen Riju is sponsored through the common pool under Local Area Development Programme (LADP).

Addressing the gathering, the Metsubo Jamir expressed his happiness over the remarkable initiative undertaken by DPDB, Mokokchung, to run this institute. He stressed that all stakeholders should shoulder equal responsibilities to achieve the vision. He expressed hope that unlike other coaching institutions, this institute would be objective-oriented and prove to be a boon to all NPSC and NSSB aspirants.

Considering the crucial role played by teachers, he urged them to understand their responsibility and values in building lives. Jamir also emphasized the need for teachers to keep themselves updated and well-equipped in their respective fields of teaching and learning. The Special Guest advised aspiring students to develop a good attitude, recognize the value of life, and understand that failures are stepping stones to success.

Jamir mentioned that training people for life is not easy. He emphasized the need for the coaching centre to be target-oriented, as many coaching centres in the state and schools are failing in this regard. He stressed the necessity of having a manual for the coaching centre, with the subject matter tailored to the department requisitions for NSSB and NPSC, highlighting the importance of equipping the facilities accordingly. Jamir underscored the differences between teaching and coaching, noting that coaching is dynamic, and efficient management is crucial.

Earlier in the programme, the Special Guest unveiled the Institute Plague.

Tongpang Ozukum, Honourable Advisor for Water Resources Government of Nagaland and Chairman of DPDB, made a statement acknowledging the unanimous decision of all elected members regarding the ongoing developments. He encouraged students and educated individuals who are unemployed to seize the opportunities presented by this initiative. Ozukum extended immense gratitude to the elected members of Mokokchung district, expressing hope that their efforts would yield fruitful results in the future.

He commended the Management Committee, headed by the ADC and Administrator of MMC, and expressed appreciation to the landowner (ABAM) for providing space to initiate this venture. Ozukum emphasized that while the coaching classes are free, students must adhere to certain conditions. He clarified that while forming friendships is encouraged, any student found engaging in indiscipline will face expulsion and will not be considered for future opportunities.

Furthermore, he highlighted that the ultimate goal of establishing this coaching centre is to see students succeed in the NSSB and NPSC examinations. He emphasized that the organizers would be doubly pleased when students achieve success through this program.

The coaching centre is situated at the former Baptist English School site in the Tzusapang Sector under Mokokchung Village, which has been permitted for use by the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM). The institute is administered by a Director, along with a Finance-cum-Office Manager, and multitasking staff.

Out of 125 who were selected after the exam, 90 candidates were selected for the coaching classes after screening of proper documentation.

The programme was chaired by P Tiatemsu, Assistant Professor, Fazl Ali College and member, Shisalen Riju Management Committee while ADC and Convenor, Shisalen Riju Management Committee, Chumlamo Humtsoe delivered the welcome address. Short speeches were also spoken by

Mokokchung Village Council and Rev Dr Prof Mar Pongener, Executive Secretary, ABAM. Dr Sentitula IFS, DFO, Mokokchung proposed the vote of thanks while Rev W Supong, Pastor, Tzusapang Baptist Church offered the dedicatory prayer.
