Nagaland has emerged as one of the leading states in the ongoing Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), demonstrating exceptional performance in agricultural technology outreach, farmer mobilization, and village-level engagement under the national mission of Viksit Bharat@2047.

Between May 29 and June 5, the state successfully reached 70,169 farmers across 746 villages, showcasing a remarkable model of community-led agricultural transformation. The campaign, focused on ‘reaching the unreached’ and ensuring that ‘no farmer is left behind,’ has generated significant grassroots momentum.

The outreach saw the active involvement of 35,507 male and 30,867 female farmers participating in awareness drives, technical sessions, distribution of extension literature, and interactive Q&A engagements with scientists and government officials. Notably, the highest farmer turnout was recorded on June 3 and 4, with more than 10,000 farmers participating on each day, reflecting strong field-level planning and community mobilization.

The campaign’s success has been further bolstered by the support of public representatives and administrators. Three MLAs, an MP, Deputy Commissioners from all districts, along with senior officials such as the ICAR Director, Joint Director, and Deans of CAU and SAS, actively took part in various events, boosting the campaign’s visibility and credibility at the policy level.

Recognized for its rich biodiversity and traditional farming systems, Nagaland offers immense potential for integrating modern agricultural technologies with indigenous knowledge systems. The VKSA campaign is strategically leveraging this strength to promote sustainable agriculture, enhance food and income security, and work towards self-reliance in the agriculture and allied sectors.

Crucially, the campaign has been marked by strong community ownership, with farmers, rural youth, SHGs, FPOs, and Village Councils showing exemplary participation. The inclusive approach has transformed VKSA from a government initiative into a grassroots movement, anchored in innovation, sustainability, and collective progress.

As the campaign continues until June 12, Nagaland is poised to achieve further milestones. The VKSA initiative not only contributes to the state’s agricultural growth but also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and India’s ambition to become a five-trillion-dollar economy.

With its proactive involvement and transformative results, Nagaland stands out as a model state, exemplifying how Viksit Krishi (Developed Agriculture) can lead the way toward a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
