The Nagaland Police in its ‘Fortnightly Report on Crime’ informed that a total of 29 persons had been arrested in 18 cases between 15 to 30 June 2023.
It mentioned that during this period, three cases were registered under the Arms Act and five individuals were arrested for violating the law by carrying firearms. The police said that two .32 pistols with magazines, twelve live rounds of .32 ammunition, one 7.62 pistol with a magazine, seven rounds of 7.62 ammunition and two .22 pistols with magazines were seized by the authorities.

Prioritizing “War on Drugs” and making progress to reduce drug activity, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, nine cases were registered during the same period in Dimapur, Mokokchung, Wokha, Zunheboto, Phek and Longleng, Nagaland Police informed in its report.
Seventeen individuals were arrested in connection with these NDPS cases, it said adding that 553.65 grams of brown sugar, a form of illicit drug derived from opium, 400 tablets of SP Caps and 15 units of Codeine were seized.
The police also documented six cases of extortion involving the unlawful acquisition of money. The recovered items related to these cases included Rs 1500 in cash and one Non-Local ID, which had the name NSCN/GPRN. Seven individuals were arrested in connection with the extortion cases in Dimapur, Kohima and Mon including members associated with NSCN-K factions and four civilians, Nagaland Police stated.
