A high-level review meeting on COVID-19 preparedness on Monday (June 9) assessed state’s preparedness in light of the current COVID-19 situation, which remains mild according to available data. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Nagaland’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare, P Paiwang Konyak, at the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare. The meeting was attended by the Commissioner & Secretary, Director and Head of Departments, and senior officials of the department.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the need for continued vigilance, sustained surveillance, and the implementation of robust public health measures across all health units in the state.
He reviewed the availability and readiness of manpower, medicines, medical consumables, oxygen supply, rapid response teams, and the surveillance mechanism in place.
It was noted that current COVID-19 cases in Nagaland fall under the mild category and are being closely monitored.

While the Department of Health & Family Welfare monitors the situation daily to ensure timely interventions, officials have affirmed that it is fully prepared to handle any potential escalation in cases.
The Department urged the citizens not to panic, as the overall national scenario is not alarming at present.
In accordance with the Government of India guidelines, all Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) cases and 5% of admitted Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) cases will be tested for COVID-19.
The public have been advised to continue adhering to COVID-appropriate behaviour, including respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene.
Meanwhile, the Department reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring effective response mechanisms are in place.
