The Nagaland Taekwondo Association took part in the 40th Senior National Taekwondo Championship held at Pondicherry from October 18 to 20.
18 members from the Nagaland Team consisting of 8 Boys and 7 girls with 3 team officials was lead by T.Alem Aier, Senior Team Coach Santsuthung Ngullie as team coach and Keneingulie as Team Manager.
A press release by T.Alem.Aier, Vice President, NTA stated that Malika Baruah won the bronze medal in the girls under 53 kg by defeating West bengal, Taekwondo Federation of India ( TFI), Madhya Pradesh, and lastly losing in the Semifinal against Chandigarh.
“Since this Senior National Taekwondo Championship was also the qualification round for the National Games to be held at Uttarakhand in January 2025, Malika Boruah under 53 kg and Dipika Hazarika under 46 kg qualified for the National Games,” mentioned the press release.

Both Malika Boruah and Dipika Hazarika are Assam Rifles Cadres now posted at Assam Rifles Training centre and school (ARTC&S) Sukhovi.
The players expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Taekwondo Association ( NTA ) officials for providing coaching camp for one month under a Korean coach. The Team officials specially acknowledged Pele Khezhie, President NTA, Kethosituo Sekhose, NCS, Director Youth Resources and Sports Nagaland, Visabiu Peseyie, State Taekwondo Coach and CO Assam Rifles, Sukhovi and the supporting staff of Assam Rifles.
