The Lotha Students’ Union Delhi (LSUD) has strongly condemned the issuance of Nagaland Government Order No. THE/HE/13-3/2020 (Pt-1) followed by THE/HE/134-3/2020(Pt-II) dated 18th December 2024 to regularize 147 Contractual Assistant Professors/Librarians in the education department without a transparent, merit-based recruitment process.
“This move is not only unjust and discriminatory but also a blatant violation of the principles of fairness, equality, and meritocracy that form the foundation of any democratic institution,” stated the Lotha Students’ Union Delhi (LSUD) while extending its solidarity and support to the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN), Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF), Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) & all other Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the fight for justice and equality.
The Union asserted that regular government positions, especially in education, must be filled through competitive examinations, transparent processes to ensure equal opportunity for qualified candidates.
“By bypassing these protocols, the government has institutionalized favoritism, sidelining deserving aspirants who have invested years in rigorous preparation for fair examinations. Converting contractual roles to permanent posts without scrutiny sets a dangerous precedent, enabling political patronage and compromising institutional integrity. Such practices breed inefficiency and erode public faith in governance,” stated the LSUD.

It also opined that contractual appointees with many hired without standardized evaluations, lack the accountability required for permanent roles. Regularizing them, according to LSUD, risks diluting the quality of education- a sector pivotal to shaping Nagaland’s future.
The Union has, therefore, demanded the immediate revocation of the decision and called for all vacant regular posts to be filled through competitive examinations, open, transparent, and merit-based recruitment. It urged the government and education department to issue a public clarification and ensure that justice is not denied to those who have spent years preparing honestly for these positions.
“This is not just an employment issue—it is a fight to preserve the integrity of our institutions, the credibility of our education system, and the faith of our youth in justice and opportunity. The Lotha Students’ Union Delhi (LSUD) will continue to raise its voice until this unjust policy is withdrawn and rightful processes are restored,” remarked the Union.
