The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has questioned the silence of the Nagaland Government following the Chief Minister led delegation’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other leaders in New Delhi over the threat of the NSCN-IM to “resume violent armed resistance against India”.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and a team of Cabinet Ministers including Deputy Chief Ministers Yanthungo Patton and T.R. Zeliang had met with the Union Home Minister on 21st November 2024 in New Delhi.

In a press release issued by the Communications Department, the NPCC stated that the silence of the Nagaland Government was not reassuring to the general public who are in deep concern and confusion since the NSCN-IM made the statement. “Considering the seriousness of the situation at hand, it was expected of the Hon’ble Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues to update the public on the outcome of the meeting,” it said.
The Congress also stated that it is “extremely worrisome” that the State Government has not come out with a positive message, reassuring the people that both the negotiating parties are doing their utmost to iron out their differences and maintain the spirit of the decades long Naga Political Peace Process. The NPCC opined that this could lead to the “amplification of possibly incorrect impressions among the people.”
