The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has strongly criticized the Government of India for its continued failure to implement the historic agreements signed with Naga political groups, even after nearly a decade.

In a press statement issued by the NPCC Communications Department, the party stated that the recent visit of AK Mishra, the Centre’s interlocutor for the Naga Peace Talks, once again underscored the “longstanding series of broken promises” made by the Government of India to the Naga people.

The Congress party recalled that despite the signing of two key accords—the Framework Agreement with the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) in 2015, and the Agreed Position with the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPGs) in 2017—the Central government has failed to translate these commitments into a final political settlement.

The NPCC appealed to AK Mishra, urging him to ensure the “immediate and sincere implementation” of these agreements, which were achieved through years of negotiation and goodwill.

“It is imperative that the long-awaited Final Political Settlement is delivered without further delay, in honor of the aspirations of the Naga people,” the NPCC asserted.
