The NSCN (IM) has categorically denied any involvement in the reported ambush on a convoy of the Indian Armed Forces at the Nungshang River area near Hungpung village, stating that the incident has no connection whatsoever with the organization.

In a statement issued by its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the NSCN (IM) clarified that the reported attack, allegedly carried out by an armed group suspected to be a breakaway “Eastern Flank” faction, was not linked to the organisation.

The group further asserted that there is no “Eastern Flank” within the Naga Army of the NSCN/GPRN.

“The NSCN/GPRN categorically states that it was neither involved in nor had any knowledge of the said incident,” the statement said.

Reaffirming its commitment to the ongoing peace process, the organisation said it remains firmly committed to the Ceasefire Agreement with the Government of India and continues to uphold its responsibilities under the mutually agreed ceasefire ground rules.

The NSCN (IM) also maintained that it would never resort to any action that could undermine, derail or sabotage the ongoing Indo-Naga political negotiations.

“The pursuit of an honourable and peaceful political solution remains the unwavering commitment of the NSCN/GPRN,” it stated.

Condemning any activity that could jeopardise the peace process, the organisation said it unequivocally opposes actions detrimental to the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks.

It further urged all stakeholders to exercise restraint and responsibility at what it described as a crucial stage of the negotiations, stressing the need to ensure that the progress made towards a peaceful resolution is not undermined by acts capable of creating mistrust and instability.
