The NSCN (IM) has strongly rejected allegations made against the organization in a recent order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, describing the claims as unsubstantiated and politically motivated.
In a statement issued through its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the NSCN (IM) said it “strongly rejects and refutes” the allegations contained in Order No. 11011/24/2026/NIA issued by the MHA’s CTCR Division, asserting that the government’s order was “an accusation wrapped in the language of authority” rather than a statement of facts.
The organization alleged that the Government of India had chosen “presumption over proof and narrative over evidence” by attributing a grave and politically sensitive incident to the NSCN. “This is not investigation, it is insinuation,” it stated.
Categorically denying any involvement in the alleged destruction of poppy fields, exchange of fire, or the deaths referred to in the order, the NSCN maintained that any attempt to link the organization to the incident “is unsubstantiated and appears intended to prejudice public opinion before a fair and independent inquiry”.

The NSCN (IM) further sought to counter what it termed as “misleading narratives,” stating that the National Socialist Council of Nagalim is neither a terrorist organization nor a banned outfit under Indian law.
Referring to the Milan Memorandum of Understanding signed on November 18, 2002, the organization said the agreement was not merely symbolic but was intended to secure peace and dignity for communities affected by decades of conflict.
The NSCN (IM) called upon the Government of India to act “decisively, transparently and in good faith” in honouring its commitments under the Milan MoU.
Rejecting the MHA order in its entirety, the organization accused the government of attempting to “manufacture guilt without proof.”
“In a conflict-ridden region, truth must not be sacrificed at the altar of convenience,” the statement added.
