The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has condoled the passing of Tapan Kumar Bose, a visionary documentary filmmaker, human rights defender, and relentless advocate for justice and peace. Conveying its condolences to late Bose’s family, the Federation also honoured “the life of a man who gave so much to the world.”

The NSF stated that late Tapan Bose dedicated his life to standing against injustice, violence, and inequality. His unwavering commitment to the cause of human rights and his fearless voice against oppression resonated across South Asia and beyond. As a filmmaker, activist, and intellectual, he was part of a collective of scientists, journalists, and artists who sought to uphold the rationalist ideals of the governing principles and challenge historic and contemporary forms of subjugation, it added.

The Federation also said that late Bose was a friend, a guide, and a source of immense support for communities that bore the brunt of jingoistic nationalism and militarization. He stood in solidarity with those who resisted the capitalist exploitation of land and resources, championing the rights of the marginalized and dispossessed. His advocacy was not just limited to words; he dedicated his time and effort to being present with the people, walking alongside them in their struggles for dignity and freedom, it said.

The NSF stated that the Naga people will remember late Tapan Bose for his unwavering support for the Nagas’ right to self-determination. His courage and commitment to justice left an indelible mark on our journey, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come, it stated
