In a world where music transcends boundaries and unites people, the Khensa Students’ Union has struck a chord with their latest release, “Nüchiba Shisaluyim” (Liberated Education)—a song that not only celebrates the victorious scholars of the Ongpangkong region but also aims to unite and inspire the community. The song was inspired by the 39th general conference of the Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (OKM) held from January 17 to 19 January 2024 at Kübza village, Mokokchung under the theme “Nüchiba Shisaluyim” (Liberated Education) where scholars gathered to share their visions for a brighter future embodying the spirit of unity, hope, and perseverance.
The team revealed that “Nüchiba Shisaluyimer” was birthed from the inspirational gathering of scholars at the Ongpangkong Students’ Conference. “This event, which saw scholars coming together to share visions for the future of Ongpangkong, motivated us to create a song that would capture the essence of these discussions. It is a call for scholars to unite and set goals that can drive societal change for a better future,” the team explained.
The team noted, “The song’s title and lyrics hold deep significance. It is an anthem for victorious scholars, urging them to unite, never give up, and work towards transforming society.”
The song was composed by both Ao Mongsen and Jungli Creole, with lyrics penned by Talisashi Kichu and composition by Tongpangsenla Jamir. It resonates with themes of hope, unity, and love for the motherland. Imtisunep Kichu handled the music and recording, while Temsuakum Longchar and Putunaro Longchar lent their voices to bring the song to life. On keys was Akumyanger Kichu; on drums, Bendangsunep Walling; on bass, Temjensashi Kichu; and on lead guitar, Sunep Kichu. Backing vocals were provided by Bangersenla Longchar, Moarenba Kichu, and Walunir Kichu.
The team emphasized, “Nüchiba Shisaluyimer reflects not just the values and culture of Khensa Village but the Ao Ongpangkong community as a whole.”
The team mentioned that the production of the song was a grassroots effort, recorded in a privately-owned residence with minimal gadgets and resources. Despite these limitations, the enthusiastic contribution of individuals ensured the success of the music video, and the team acknowledged everyone who contributed and supported the project.

The team shared that the response to the song has been overwhelmingly positive. The community’s reaction has been incredibly encouraging, with viewers expressing their appreciation and support. While there are currently no plans for further promotion, the Khensa Students’ Union remains open to invitations for performances.
Currently, a trailer for “Nüchiba Shisaluyimer” has been released, and the full music video is scheduled for release on July 28-29. Through “Nüchiba Shisaluyimer,” the Khensa Students’ Union hopes listeners will reconnect with their roots, appreciate and value their cultural identity, and develop a sense of pride in their heritage. Although there are no immediate projects in the pipeline, the Union is eager to create more content in the future.
