Observance of 70th All India Cooperative Week in Peren and Tuensang

The 70th All India Cooperative Week, organized by Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Peren, was celebrated under the theme “Role of Cooperatives in $ 5 Trillion Economy and SDGs” at Women Welfare Hall, Jalukie Town on November 20. The inaugural session was graced by ADC Peren & Administrator Peren Town Council, Keyiranding Hegui as the special’guest, informed the DIPR.

Keyiranding Hegui, in his inaugural speech, stressed on the motive behind the formation of cooperative societies and the need to strengthen the cooperative sectors in the district. Speaking on how other states are working towards increasing their economy, he encouraged the societies to work hard as the government is trying to help them in the best way possible and also advised them to value their economy and realise it. He also urged them to refrain from mismanagement of funds received from the government in order to maintain transparency and accountability to take the district forward.

Hegui further reminded the gathering about the Winter Carnival cum Orchid Festival which is scheduled to be held from December 6 to 10 at Carnival Village, Tepuiki-Peren where interested societies can take part during the event.

Earlier, Zasevituo Angami, SRCS i/c Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Peren in his keynote address thanked the Cooperators for their prompt response in attending the programme as informed within a short notice. He also highlighted the different topics of the week-long celebration, its objectives, achievements and the strategies for way forward.

The programme was chaired by ICS, Keheiyile, while short speech was delivered by Zangdi Domta, BOD NStCB Ltd. And vote of thanks was proposed by ICS, Kikrusalie Medoze.

Tuensang

Tuensang witnessed the commemoration of the 70th All India Co-operative Week organized by the Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Society Tuensang, November 20 at CKS Hall Tuensang.

Commemorating under the theme “Role of Co-operative in $5 Trillion economy and SDGs”, the event was graced by Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, as the Guest of Honour, reported the DIPR.

Addressing the gathering, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa emphasized the significance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the UN. Drawing attention to the presence of registered societies in every village of Tuensang District, Rutsa noted that while many societies exist, several exhibit zero performance in transactions. Further, stressing the potential of Tuensang in organic vegetable production, she urged Self Help Groups (SHGs) to specialize in a single product and establish marketing linkages to uplift the economic status of societies. Rutsa called upon the Department of Co-operation to implement all central programs in the district, ensuring widespread benefits for the local populace.

The program was chaired by Kiutsumong LDA, featuring a keynote address delivered by I. Chume Chang, Joint Registrar of Co-operative Tuensang. Short speeches were given by Patsoi, Chairman of Life Elachi Agri and Allied Society Ltd. The vote of thanks was extended by Chembise.
