One-day Orientation training programme of Para- Veterinarians and Farmers under Livestock insurance NLM 2025 -2026 was held at Women welfare Hall, Jalukie town on May 1 sponsored by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Government of India, Implemented by the Chief Veterinary Officer, Peren.
In the Technical Session, Dr Suiyipeube Mpom spoke on Livestock Insurance Scheme said that the scheme will be implemented in collaboration with the national insurance company limited (NICL), which is a public sector insurance company in India established in the year 1906. It is India’s oldest general insurance company fully owned by the Government of India administered by the Ministry of Finance.
Dr Mpom said the aim is to give financial protection to animal proprietor by ensuring protection for their animal, and the scheme will also assist livestock owners against loss caused by death of animals. It also helps the farmers to get access to loan facilities from the Bank by insuring their livestock against loss.

Dr Mpom also imparted the knowledge on how the farmers will avail insurance policy, and the documents required for livestock claim and highlighted the types of animals covered under the scheme like Pigs, Sheep and Goat, Poultry Lager Birds, Cattle (Heifer), Cattle (Milch) Mithun & Buffalo. He informed that a proper claim document has to be submitted within 14 days after the loss and death of their Livestock to the authority.
Bio security for the protection of their plants and animals against harmful diseases, biological hazard and source of risk due to some biological factor such as bacteria or human waste were also discussed during the program.
CVO, Peren, Dr Tsileu Haikube proposed the welcome and keynote Address, while Dr Kekiepeu Nza presented delivered the vote of thanks. The training programme was presided over by Dr Yovino Mekro.
