The District Task Force, Mokokchung has launched the Pan-India Rescue & Rehabilitation Campaign 4.0 in commemoration of the World Day Against Child Labour. The campaign, held on the theme “Red Card to Child Labour – Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults,” was held from June 12 to August 31.

The campaign aimed to create greater awareness about child labour and encouraged the community, employers and business establishments to ensure that children are protected from work, particularly from hazardous and unsafe environments.

The month-long campaign began with a poster campaign and sensitisation programmes targeting workers, proprietors and members of the public. Through these activities, the District Task Force has been creating awareness on the harmful effects of child labour and urging employers to refrain from engaging children in work.

As part of the campaign, the District Task Force is also conducting discussions, verification and visits to various establishments, including restaurants, cafés and vehicular workshops, to check and sensitise proprietors on child labour-related provisions and the need to provide children with a safe environment for their growth and education.

The campaign seeks to reinforce the message that children should be in school and protected from exploitation, while adults should have access to safe and decent employment opportunities.

The District Task Force also called upon business owners, workers and the general public to cooperate with the campaign and play an active role in preventing child labour in the district.
