Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Yanthungo Patton on Sunday said that issues of women reservation and delimitation are of great significance for the future of the country and its democratic institutions.
Lauding the vision and resolve of the BJP-led NDA government for 33 per cent reservation for women in legislatures, Patton said it reflects the growing role of women in public life and their rightful place in decision-making bodies.
He said the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has consistently worked for the welfare, dignity and advancement of women across the nation. He noted that several initiatives launched over the years in the areas of housing, sanitation, health care, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and education have created new opportunities for women and strengthened families in both rural and urban India.
On the issue of delimitation, Patton said every reform must protect the spirit of fairness among all states and regions. He said smaller states, especially those in the Northeast, must receive due attention so that their voices remain strong in Parliament. He added that national unity becomes stronger when every part of the country feels heard and respected.
