As part of the 80th Independence Day celebration, Saramati Nexus Club, Pungro organized an open penalty shootout at Public Ground, Pungro, on August 15. The event was inaugurated by ADC Pungro, Hotolu Sema, NCS.

A total of 36 teams participated in the competition. Pewrenvong FC claimed the championship title and received a cash prize of Rs 20,000, while Surayin FC finished runner’s up and received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000. Varite of Pewrenvong FC was awarded the best goal keeper title.

A Tug of war was also organised where various wards under Pungro Town participated. Forest Ward emerged victorious and was awarded cash prize of Rs 5000.
