State Review Meeting and Training of National Oral Health Programme Nagaland underway

Kohima: CHC Changtongya, under Mokokchung district, awarded and certified as “Best Dental Health Unit’’

The National Oral Health Programme Nagaland, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare is organising a two-day State Review Meeting and Training of National Oral Health Programme on 26th and 27th September 2023 at IDSP Hall, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima, DIPR informed.

On the first day of the program, Special Guest Dr Chiekroshuyi Tetseo, Director (Dental), handed over the “Principal Director’s Commendation Certificate’’ to Dr Savi Naleo, Jr. Dental Surgeon, Community Health Centre Viswema in recognition of his commitment to patient care and sincere dedication to enhancing Oral Health of the community. The Commendation Certificate was also awarded to Dr Pfukrolo Koza, Sr. Dental Surgeon, NHAK Kohima in recognition of his expertise in the field of Periodontology, unwavering dedication to Oral Health and outstanding contributions to enhancing patient wellbeing.

CHC Changtongya under Mokokchung district was awarded and certified as the “Best Dental Health Unit’’ in recognition of their exceptional commitment to promoting and maintaining Dental Health within the community.

In his address, Dr Tetseo reiterated that since the services and procedures of dental care in hospitals have been diversified, he anticipated that more services should be rendered to the community. Oral health being ignored by many, he encouraged all to create awareness among people that dental procedures are not only cosmetic but functional for the overall health. Dr Tetseo further encouraged all to continue rendering their services and work together for the welfare of the community.

The program was chaired by Addl. Director Dental & SPO (NOHP), Dr Meribeni Odyuo who stated that the State Review Meeting for Dental Surgeons marks a significant milestone as it is the first time that the program is convening such a meeting under the National Oral Health Programme Program. She further highlighted that the two-day training will be providing opportunities for all the 34 Dental Health units to participate and share their insights. Dr Odyuo urged all to actively participate in productive discussions on how to foster collaboration with other Health Programs in the State.
