A Table Top Exercise in preparation for the Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) 2026 was conducted on April 29 at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Purana Bazar, Dimapur.
The exercise was organized by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Dimapur, to assess preparedness and strengthen coordination among various departments and agencies ahead of the mock drill scheduled for April 30.
Officials designated as observers, site in-charges, and volunteers attended the session, which focused on response strategies, inter-agency coordination, communication systems, and the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders during emergency situations. Key locations identified for the mock drill included the DC Office (Staging Area), Government Higher Secondary School, Purana Bazar; Hollotoli School, Naharbari; Westside Store, Darogapathar; Indian Oil (IOCL), Kevijau; and PHC Purana Bazar.
The exercise also reviewed the tentative sequence of activities under the proposed “Operation Night Guard/Air Raid” scenario, simulating multiple incident sites including the DC Office Dimapur and EDTC.
Additionally, geo-coordinates of the identified sites were reviewed, highlighting the need for timely response, efficient resource mobilization, and ensuring public safety.
The programme concluded with a briefing on the final arrangements for the upcoming district-wide mock drill.
Peren:

A Table Top Exercise on earthquake and extreme weather disaster scenarios was conducted at the DC’s Conference Hall, Peren on April 29 as part of the 8th Edition of the Statewide Mock Drill, NEPEx 2026.
The programme began with an introduction to the NEPEx Statewide Mega Mock Exercise and the Incident Response System (IRS) by Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, DDMA Peren, Hiazu Meru. He highlighted the roles and responsibilities under IRS and emphasized the importance of coordination among departments and timely response during disasters.
He also briefed on the conduct of the mock drill, stating that unlike previous years, where the exercise was held at a single location, as per the instructions of the NDRF, this year it will be conducted at two locations: Peren Town at the district level and Jalukie Town at the sub-divisional level. He further informed that the simulation is based on a 7.7 magnitude earthquake with its epicentre at Piphema, placing Peren district within a 30 km impact zone, and added that a night operation component has also been introduced this year.
SDO (Civil), Peren, Sentilong Ozukum presented the mock drill scenario, while District Commandant, Home Guards & Civil Defence, Peren, Vingutuo Angami demonstrated an “Air Raid” simulation under the code name Operation Night Guard, showcasing coordinated response mechanisms.
DPA, DDMA Peren, Kedigong briefed on the programme and operational action sequence to be followed during the conduct of the mock exercise. A demonstration on wireless communication was also conducted by OC Wireless, highlighting the role of communication systems during emergencies.
In his concluding remarks, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated the importance of such exercises in enhancing preparedness and resilience. He stressed the need for all personnel to be well-prepared and aware of their roles under IRS, and emphasized that volunteers should simulate realistic scenarios during the exercise. He further informed that a debriefing session will be held virtually after the exercise and urged all officers from line departments to join positively.
Zunheboto:

Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, IAS along with the Head of Office, Zunheboto, virtually attended a video conference held at the State Emergency Operation Centre, Capital Convention Centre, Kohima, as part of the Table Top Exercise organised by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority under the Home Department.
The exercise was conducted as part of the 8th edition of the Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) 2026, which is scheduled to be held on April 30.
The large-scale mock exercise is being organised by the NSDMA with support from the National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
This year’s simulation will focus on earthquake and extreme weather disaster scenarios, with the objective of strengthening the state’s preparedness, coordination, and emergency response capabilities.
Noklak:

A tabletop exercise for the NEPEx statewide mega mock drill was conducted under the aegis of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Noklak, at the Superintendent of Police’s Conference Hall on April 29.
DC & Chairman, DDMA Noklak, P. Mono Khiamniungan, briefed on the NEPEx statewide mega mock exercise and the Incident Response System (IRS). He elaborated on the roles and responsibilities during the exercise, emphasizing coordinated response mechanisms in disaster situations.
ADC & CEO, DDMA Noklak, Relise Sangtam, emphasized on the mock drill scenario and the logistical arrangements for the exercise. The session aimed to prepare all participating departments for effective implementation during the actual drill.

DPA, DDMA Noklak, Tanghiu, conducted group briefings and explained the required forms to be used during the exercise, ensuring clarity in documentation and reporting procedures.
OC Noklak (Wireless), Sulem, demonstrated the use of wireless communication sets, highlighting their importance in maintaining effective communication during emergencies.
Longleng:

In preparation of the 8th edition state wide mega mock drill exercise on earthquake disaster for Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) 2026, a table top exercise was conducted on April 29 at DPDB hall, Longleng under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and chairman DDMA Longleng, W Manpai Phom NCS.
Chairing the meeting the DC, said the scale of disaster preparedness exercises has been enhanced this year, marking a step further from previous years, and said the exercise is a serious opportunity to identify difficulties and gaps in response mechanisms. Through the 8th mock drill, all stakeholders must learn to prepare as if facing an actual earthquake or other natural calamity.
Four locations have been identified for the exercise. The drill, scheduled on April 30 would test the district’s preparedness level. Members were urged to activate and simulate response systems to the maximum possible extent, reflecting real-life and real-time conditions.
The DC, also appreciated the stakeholders, line departments and officer in-charge for their presence and cooperation in the exercise.
Additional SP Longleng, Hiatwa Iralu NPS, spoke on the structure of the Incidence Respond System (IRS) comprising of responsible officer, Incident Commanders, Operation System, Planning Section and Logistics Section and various unit leaders involved. Accordingly, he briefed on the involvement of all line departments and their roles and responsibilities as per the IRS structure of the district.
Tseminyu:

As a part of the 8th edition of the Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) 2026. A Table – Top Exercise (TTEx) was conducted at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Tseminyu on April 29. Resource Inventory Incident Scenario and IRS roles and responsibilities were discussed during the exercise. Certain briefing was also done on how to go about with the mock drills to be held on April 30.
