The United Zeliangrongpui Co-ordination Committee (UZCC) on Saturday organised a mass sit-in protest at Rani Gaidinliu Park, Mantripukhri in Imphal East district, demanding justice for the six Naga civilians who were allegedly abducted and killed by suspected Kuki militants.

Hundreds of protesters, mostly women from the Zeliangrong community, gathered under traditional tents to condemn the killings and press for immediate action against those responsible. The demonstrators alleged that the six victims were taken hostage on May 13 from Leilon Vaiphei village in Kangpokpi district before being killed.

The UZCC alleged the involvement of the Kuki National Front (P) [KNF(P)] in the incident and called upon the authorities to arrest and prosecute all those responsible without delay.

Among its key demands, the committee sought the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with all Kuki militant groups, declaration of KNF(P) as a terrorist organisation, removal of Nemcha Kipgen from the post of Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, and justice for the six slain Naga civilians.

The protesters carried placards bearing messages such as “Arrest KNF(P) Chief Lalboy,” “Punish the Guilty,” “Justice for Six,” “Delay in Justice is Denied Justice,” “Justice Now,” “No Delay, Justice Today,” “Abrogate SoO with Kuki Militants,” and “Stop Killing Innocent Naga Civilians.”

The UZCC maintained that those responsible for the killings must be brought to justice and reiterated its demand for decisive action against the alleged perpetrators.
