A five-day training programme on “Improved Production Technologies in Floriculture” concluded successfully with a valedictory function held on May 22 at the conference hall of ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra Wokha. The programme was organized under the TSP-funded project titled “Strengthening Tribal Farming Systems Through a Critical Input Support System and Technology Backstopping Under the KVK Instructional Farm.”
The programme was chaired by Dr BL Mhalo Tungoe, Chief Technical Officer (Agricultural Extension), who welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of floriculture as a promising enterprise for livelihood generation and income enhancement among rural farmers and youth.
During the programme, participants shared their feedback and expressed satisfaction with the practical knowledge and hands-on training received on improved floriculture production technologies. The trainees appreciated the efforts of the resource persons and emphasized that the training enhanced their confidence and technical skills in scientific flower cultivation.
Anuranjan Singh, Project Manager-ETF, District Administration, Wokha addressed the participants and encouraged them to utilize the acquired knowledge for self-employment and entrepreneurship development.

Gourango Ghosh, District Informatics Officer (DIO), NIC Wokha, also spoke on the importance of adopting modern technologies and digital awareness in agriculture and allied sectors.
Dr Sandeep Suresh Deshmukh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra Wokha, delivered the valedictory address and encouraged the trainees to take up floriculture as a sustainable and profitable farming venture. He further stressed the role of scientific interventions and continuous technical support in strengthening tribal farming systems in the district.
Certificates and critical agricultural inputs were distributed to all the trainees during the programme. The function concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Thungchano C Ezung, Technical Officer (Food Processing), followed by light refreshments and group photography.
