The Working Committee (WC) of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPG) has expressed shock and anguish over the killing of six Nagas whose bodies were recently recovered in Manipur.
In a statement issued by Convenor Gen. (Retd.) Neokpao Konyak, Working Convenors Col. Isak Sumi and P Tikhak, the committee said it was aghast to learn of the manner in which the six lives were allegedly treated, stating that the incident had gone beyond the bounds of moral and ethical standards.
“The six precious lives of the Nagas were defiled to the extent that no normal human being could ever conceive,” the statement said.
The WC, NNPG also acknowledged the efforts of the United Naga Council (UNC), commending its persistence, perseverance and patience while dealing with the difficult circumstances surrounding the crisis.
At the same time, the committee reminded that acceptance and forgiveness is the only path to co-existence.

The WC, NNPG said it would continue to strive for multi-ethnic co-existence rather than unipolar narratives. “However, we shall not tolerate any form of threat to the Nagas in any form or shape. Collectively the Nagas must confront the common adversaries,” it added.
“It’s high time that Nagas wherever must rise above narrow misunderstanding, unite and reason together rather than making an attempt to impose factional legitimacy,” it said and informed that NNPG would not tolerate any actions, policies or intentions from any section designed to harm the welfare the Naga people.
