Poshan Pakhwada concludes at Mokokchung and Wokha

The closing program of Poshan Pakhwada 2026 which started on April 9 on the theme “Maintaining Brain Development in the First 6 Years of life” was held on April 23 at DC’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung organized by the Department of Social Welfare, Mokokchung.

Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS in his speech appreciated the efforts of the officials and workers of the Department for successfully undertaking activities under various scheme and policies and encouraged them to continue to work with the same spirit for the welfare of the society.

He also stressed on the importance of child development and the role of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in enhancing knowledge on nutrition and requested all the ASHA and Anganwadi workers to activate their centre better.

Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung gave away the Best Performing Anganwadi Worker awards to Sashilemla Anganwadi Workers, Changtongya Village Centre (C) under Changtongya ICDS Project and Lanusangla, Anganwadi Workers, Anungchen Centre, Khar Village under Mangkolemba ICDS Project.

Earlier, Arienla Supervisor, Ongpangkong North chaired the program and Imliyanger District Program Officer, ICDS delivered the welcome address and Meyalemla CDPO of Ongpangkong North gave a brief highlight on 8th Poshan Pakhwada 2026 while vote of thanks was proposed by Sunepwapang, CDPO Ongpangkong South.

Wokha:

The closing ceremony of Poshan Pakhwada campaign was held at the VDB Hall, Wokha, on April 23. The programme marked the successful culmination of the fortnight-long campaign aimed at promoting nutrition awareness and community participation.

Delivering a short speech, District Programme Officer and Child Development Project Officer (DPO/CDPO) Wokha, Bonathung Ngullie, highlighted the objectives of the campaign and expressed appreciation for the support extended by stakeholders, government departments and community organizations. He noted that the collective efforts had ensured the success of the programme and emphasized the importance of continuing nutrition awareness at the grassroots level.

Ngullie further encouraged Anganwadi workers, village leaders and civil society groups to sustain the momentum by spreading knowledge on healthy diets, maternal and child nutrition, and the need for community-driven initiatives to combat malnutrition.

The programme was chaired by Block Coordinator, Loyingbemo Humtsoe, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Supervisor, Nchumthung Odyuo.

Poshan Pakhwada is an annual nationwide campaign under the Government of India’s Poshan Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission). Observed for two weeks, it focuses on creating awareness about nutrition, healthy eating practices, and the importance of maternal and child health. The campaign involves activities such as community meetings, awareness drives, health check-ups, and demonstrations of nutritious recipes. It aims to strengthen grassroots participation by involving Anganwadi centres, schools, self-help groups, and local organizations.

The 2026 edition emphasized themes of balanced diets, prevention of anemia, promotion of kitchen gardens, and the role of community engagement in achieving the vision of a “Malnutrition-Free India.”
