Mokokchung DPDB felicitates meritorious students, approves school upgradation and society registration

The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for Mokokchung District was held at the DC’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung on May 13, under the chairmanship of MLA & DPDB Chairman, Nuklutoshi Longkumer. The meeting commenced with a felicitation ceremony led by the Chairman.

Class X and Class XII Top 3 rank holders from Mokokchung District were honoured for their performance.

The Cleanest Ward Award 2025-2026 was officially presented to the winning ward.

Following a review of the previous meeting’s minutes and action-taken report, the house passed two major development proposals.

Under Society Registration, the board recommended the registration of the MI Small Tea Growers Cooperative Society, Saringyim. While on Educational Expansion, the board recommended the upgradation of Green Hills Public School, Chuchuyimlang, from Middle Section to High School.

The board deliberated extensively on hosting the upcoming 25th edition of the Dr T Ao Trophy, scheduled for October 2026. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, appealed to all departments and members to extend full cooperation to ensure the milestone event is a grand success.

The DC also briefed the house on the recent DCs’ Conference held in Kohima, where he urged departments to maintain proper coordination and manage resources efficiently. He further informed that the district administration is actively planning to institute a ‘District Teachers Award’ to honour the educators.

During the meeting, the Principal of Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, highlighted the institution’s recent achievements and requested continuous support from the board. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Deputy Commissioner.
